8/23/2022: Metrolink cancels select trains; service to resume Monday, Aug. 29 Lines Affected: Antelope Valley, San Bernardino, Ventura County

Metrolink Monthly Pass holders can travel on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains within the station pairs of your pass at no additional charge, except on the following dates:

Blackout Dates: Amtrak will not accept Metrolink monthly passes on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains on the following dates:

  • Friday through Tuesday of Memorial Day weekend (May 27-May 31, 2022)
  • Friday through Tuesday of Independence Day weekend (July 1-July 5, 2022)
  • Opening weekend of Del Mar horse racing season and San Diego Comic Con Wednesday through Monday. (July 20-July 25, 2022)
  • Friday through Tuesday of Labor Day weekend (September 2-6, 2022)
  • Wednesday through Monday the week of Thanksgiving (November 23-28, 2022)
  • Thursday through Monday the week of Christmas (December 22-26 2022)

Under the Rail 2 Rail® program, Orange and Ventura County corridor Metrolink Monthly Pass holders can travel on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains, within the station pairs of their pass, at no additional charge, including Saturday and Sunday. Metrolink Monthly Pass holders who travel outside of station pairs identified on their pass are required to purchase an Amtrak ticket for the portion of the trip not within the Monthly Pass station pairs. Metrolink passengers simply show their Monthly Pass and board any Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train to their destination. These additional trains are not available to holders of One-Way and Round-Trip tickets or 7-Day Passes, except for Shared Service trains (A768 and A759) on the Ventura County Line. A Shared Service train is an Amtrak train that operates in a Metrolink train slot. All Metrolink tickets (One-Way, Round-Trip, 7-Day and Monthly passes) are accepted on those trains at any time.

Blackout dates do not affect shared service on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains 761, 770, 777 and 784 on the Ventura County Line.

The Rail 2 Rail® program does NOT include travel on Coast Starlight trains.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner Monthly Pass holders may ride any Metrolink train, within the station pairs on their pass, at no additional charge.

Amtrak 10-Trip tickets are only accepted on Metrolink trains that operate on the Ventura County Line between Burbank Airport-South and Los Angeles Union Station. All Metrolink ticket types are accepted on Amtrak trains that operate between Burbank Airport-South and Los Angeles Union Station.

Bike Reservation

Customers with a Metrolink ticket or pass only cannot bring bicycles on board Pacific Surfliner trains. Rail 2 Rail® riders should be advised that a valid Amtrak ticket and a complimentary bike reservation will be necessary in order to bring a bike on board Pacific Surfliner trains. Metrolink monthly pass holders will not be allowed to board with a bike without purchasing an Amtrak ticket and reserving the bike slot space in advance. Amtrak tickets and bike reservations can be obtained by visiting Amtrak.com, at Quik-Trak ticketing machines, from station ticket agents, or by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL. Please use Metrolink trains if your journey requires bicycle transport. Metrolink trains have specially retrofitted bike cars on select trains and all passenger cars can hold up to three bikes per car.
